This story was adorable and funny. I think it was pretty age appropriate for 4+.The author does mention essentially meatless Mondays but brings up a day for the kids to pick. But that’s in the afterword. If you don’t want to read that bit in a school setting, you definitely don’t have to!There are two veggie recipes at the end that look fun to try. This story was age appropriate with a little blurb at the end about how to incorporate a single meatless day.

I watched the video of the story and knew I had to own this book. I am an education major and will be teaching elementary school in less than 2 years. I am always on the lookout for books to build my classroom library and to use for interactive reading lessons. This is the best Thanksgiving book I have read!! It not only tells about being thankful, but it models what that behavior looks like in real life. I just purchased it and it will be an annual read in my classroom. What a good story!! (and I really like that there is no dripping cheese on the lasagna)

This is a lovely book to share with young children during US Thanksgiving. I was so happy to see that everyone got to enjoy the dinner together. The suspense of not knowing how the story would help keep a child’s interesting. The kind ending is much appreciated because so many young children are distressed when the find out what we do to animals they love.I don’t understand the negative 1 star reviews given because if the vegetarian message at the end. If you disagree with vegetarianism, don’t base to entire review on the post story information. The story is very well done.

Cute enough book, but heavy on the pro-vegetarian message. Great if you want to promote that with your own child, but not my place as a teacher. Not for classroom use, in my opinion.

Beautifully written and illustrated, this book tells the tale of a turkey that is excited to be invited to Thanksgiving dinner rather than be the dinner! The idea of being vegetarian or vegan explained simply to children in this book. It’s very easy to show love and empathy for all living creatures.
